Swedish Medical Center Business Office Customer Service Representative - Customer Service Center in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Business Office Customer Service Representative (1.0 FTE, Day shift ) to work in the Customer Service Center at Swedish Metropolitan Park East located in Seattle, WA.
The Business Office Customer Service Representive position is responsible for ensuring that patient, physician and third party requests and questions regarding medical billing issues are addressed and resolved in a prompt, courteous and comprehensive manner in accordance with SHS policies and procedures.
In this position you will:
Respond and resolve questions and problems from patients, or their legal representatives, physicians, insurance companies, and other third parties regarding billing questions/issues.
Document and attempt resolution of all patient inquiries, complaints, and grievances in appropriate system(s) and either handle, redirect or defer to appropriate department according to hospital procedures.
Analyze billing problems to determine course of action to reach resolution; answers requests, via phone, and mail, for explanation of benefits, payments, denials, etc.
Proactively conduct follow-up activities to guarantee maximum cash flow and reimbursement for the hospital.
Review, decipher and respond to correspondence from patients, or their legal representatives, and other appropriate parties.
Participate as team player by demonstrating support to peers, management, and the department's goals. Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Two or more years of customer service experience required.
Proficient with billing and customer service applications
Basic understanding of healthcare billing
Customer service focus and attitude
Ability to type 50 WPM or more
Experience in a call center environment preffered
Ability to conduct online research
