Swedish Medical Center Perinatal Assistant in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Perinatal Assistant (0.3 FTE, NIGHT SHIFT) to work in the Family Childbirth Center at Swedish Ballard in Ballard, WA.
The Perinatal Assistant is responsible for supporting the entire patient care team, including service partners, in delivering services and care, as directed, to patients within scope of licensure or training.
In this position you will:
Work under supervision of the RN to provide care and service to patients and their families.
Assist with ADL’s, vital signs, urinary catheter removal, ambulation assistance; assist women to the bathroom, using a bedpan, and pericare, as well as assisting the new mother with feeding infant, infant care, bathing, and performing chemstrip functions for mothers and newborns, and conducting oximetry tests.
Be responsible for supply management: restock supplies after use, maintain appropriate core stocking levels, work with manager/designee to improve unit and individual routines to assure adequate room supply without excess or depletion.
Communicate & document actions and care provided timely, accurately, legibly, and on appropriate documentation forms.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school education or equivalent
Current Washington State certification as a Nursing Assistant Certified
Current CPR certification
Washington State Medical Assistant - Registered will be required with Swedish Medical Center facility application completed within 7 days of hire. Must obtain active license within 60 days of hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Six months of acute care experience
One year of skilled nursing experience
Acute or skilled experience will be waived if the applicant has demonstrated experience involving customer service in healthcare or other related industry and completion of an acute care NAC course
Acute or skilled experience will be waived for students currently enrolled and in good standing at a traditional registered nursing program approved by the Nursing Quality Care Commission. At a minimum, satisfactory completion of one academic term (quarter or semester) that included clinical patient care experience is required. Strong preference will be given to students enrolled in a BSN program.
Working knowledge of medical teminology
Data entry and retrieval computer skills
