Swedish Medical Center Registered Nurse - Pre and Post Surgery Center/PACU II in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Registered Nurse (1.0 FTE, Day shift) to work in the Pre and Post Surgery Center / PACU II at Swedish First Hill in the Swedish Orthopedic Institute in Seattle, WA.
The PPACU (Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) assumes leadership, responsibility and accountability for designated patients in the pre-operative and post-operative, phase II recovery care units.
In this position you will:
-Assess patient prior to procedure, reviewing patient identification, consent, physical and psychological health status, allergies, and readiness for surgery
-Review data collected, pertinent health history, physician orders, and patient needs to formulate and prioritize a plan of care.
-Monitor patient vital signs in the phase II recovery area, adapting readily to changing situations.
-Provide patient education post surgery to prepare patient for discharge
-Provide for patient safety throughout the PACU experience.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
Nursing Baccalaureate degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing, or must attain a BSN within 6 years of hire
Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
Current ACLS certification
Two years experience in a Medical or Surgical or Cardiac or Ambulatory Surgery Unit
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Adequate knowledge to perform assessments, plan patient care, provide direct care and ability to educate and orient patients and families
