Swedish Medical Center Research Scientist - Swedish Neuro Institute Research Labs in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Research Scientis t (1.0 FTE, Day shift) in the Swedish Neuro Institute Research Labs at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA.
Swedish is looking for a detail oriented, independent Research Scientist who will work to uphold Swedish's mission and values.
In this position you will:
Independently develop, conduct, and administer research actives at Swedish Medical Center
Obtain funding to implement research project or study
Supervise staff hired to perform duties required by funded study
Responsible for integrity and reproducability of data relating to study, including: data capture, data entry, data structure, data analysis, etc. Responsible for maintenance and storage of all source documentation including laboratory notebooks, databases, etc. May be required to provide computer programming for data capture and analysis
Required qualifications for this position include:
PhD or Doctorate Degree in laboratory science or medical field, or equivalent experience.
6 months minimum experience working in a research laboratory as a research scientist.
Experience with Office Software.
Sound knowledge of standard laboratory equipment including centrifuges, pipettes, stirrers, hoods, etc.
Fundamental understanding of scientific method and specialized methods and procedures in area of expertise.
Fundamental understanding of research funding process and culture.
Able to successfully submit proposals to peer review bodies.
Able to establish collaborations with scientists/researchers in other institutions.
Able to independently develop laboratory procedures/protocols to test hypotheses.
Thorough understanding of safety regulations, biohazards and other environmental exposures.
Professional writing and presentation skills.
Working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment.
