Swedish Medical Center Scientific Programs Director - Marsha Rivkin Center in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Scientific Programs Director (1.0 FTE, Day) to work in the Marsha Rivkin Center at Swedish First Hill located in Seattle, WA.
The Scientific Programs Director works under the direction of the Administrative Director of the Marsha Rivkin Center and is responsible for the direction of the programmatic, operational, and financial management of all activities related to the Marsha Rivkin Center's scientific programs.
In this position you will:
Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Medical and Scientific Director(s), and Scientific Advisory Board to develop and implement strategic plans designed to further the organization's directive to advance research in the prevention, early detection and treatment of ovarian cancer
Nationally influence the directive and quality of research pursued in ovarian cancer and disseminate research findings nationally
Manages selection, contracting, and reporting of annual research grant distributions
Manage event production of nationally attended research symposium, including but not limited to budgeting, underwriting sponsorships, vendor contracts, agenda development, travel arrangements, and communications
Manage organizations budgets and represents organization for ovarian cancer screening programs
Supervises Events and Communications Manager, administrative support staff and scientific program internships
Participate in efforts to promote scientific achievements and visions of the organization through media, communications, and public presentations
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree required
At least five years of progressively responsible job related experience required
Basic knowledge of microbiology and scientific terminology required
Ability to read and interpret published scientific research
Ability to author and edit moderate to highly complex scientific reports and correspondence to a wide audience (both scientific and lay)
Demonstrate the ability in management, staff supervision, finance, and communications
Ability to effectively work with a diverse group of people (scientific, physician, donor, cancer patients, the general public, etc.)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Work experience in natural sciences and/or health care preferred
Grant writing experience preferred
Strong public presentation and speaking skills preferred
