Swedish Medical Center Unit Scheduler - Nursing Resource Office in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Unit Scheduler (1.0, Days) to work in the Nursing Resource Office at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Unit Scheduler is responsible for the preparation of unit schedules and time and attendance editing for assigned units. The Unit Scheduler works with the Clinical Manager to ensure daily staffing cores are met in a cost-effective manner and to assist in tracking and reporting related data.

In this position you will:

  • Develops and maintains the unit schedules in accordance with unit cores

  • Prepares schedule for new experienced staff in department orientation and prepares schedule for staff that are going through the cross-training programs

  • Prepares schedule for traveling RN’s assigned to department and verifies timecard of traveler RN

  • Minimizes the use of overtme, double time, and other premium pay. Meets staffing needs in the most cost-effective manner, while maintaining quality of care and skill mix

  • Proactively anticipates and resolves staffing issues


Required qualifcations for this position include:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a college or technical school or six months to one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • One year experience in similar or related fields

Preferred qualifcations for this position include:

  • Self directed, with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and staff

  • Knowledge of union contract language, staffing policies and procedures and payroll pay practices

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Must demonstrate competency to safely and accurately operate the following: Windows, MS Word, Excel, automated scheduling systems, time and attendance systems, printers and fax machines
