Swedish Health Services Anesthesia Technician IV - Anesthesia in Edmonds, Washington
Where you work matters! Swedish Edmonds is looking for a Anesthesia Technician IV (Per Diem, Variable Shift) to work in Anesthesia at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, WA.
Prepares operating rooms and equipment for surgery, using appropriate techniques and following anesthesia guidelines. Provides technical services and assists in operating room when requested by provider. Monitors and maintains equipment repair records and coordinates the timely repair and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
In this position you will:
Effectively initiate communication with anesthesiology staff and/or liaison as indicated regarding change in tech practice, new or malfunctioning equipment, reorganization of supplies, ongoing problems, etc.
Participates in and oversees stocking and set up of anesthesia equipment in the Surgical and Labor/Delivery suites, including restocking items used by Anesthesiologist; syringes, needles, non-controlled drugs, respiratory equipment change O2, suction canisters, empty garbage and other miscellaneous items. Collaborates with OB administration and staffing concerning equipment and supplies.
Assists the anesthesiologist with the start/finish of each case, including turnover to make sure each room is set up and ready for following patient. Triages priority patients if more than one case is being started at the same time. Anticipates monitoring and special equipment needs. Monitor OR schedule for changes.
Assists with procedures within the scope of Technician’s practice and training: assist with induction, difficult airway, pediatric patients, placement of invasive monitoring lines and emergency procedures, nerve blocks and patient positioning.
Collaborates with pharmacy to facilitate use of Pyxis machines to dispense anesthesia medications.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED
Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist certification required at hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Advanced Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
Ten (10) or more years extensive experience as Anesthesia technician with progression through levels as an Anesthesia Technician
