Swedish Health Services Scrub and OB Technician in Edmonds, Washington
Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Scrub and OB Technician (0.9 FTE, Night Shift) at Swedish Edmonds Campus in Edmonds, WA
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Scrub/OB Technician participates as a member of the peri-operative team in the safe and effective care to assigned groups of patients in a variety of age groups, which may include neonatal, adolescent, or adult.
In this position you will:
Scrub, gown and glove self per hospital policy. During surgical procedure, demonstrates proficient skill in providing appropriate instruments, supplies, suture as indicated by physician preference and specific circumstance of each case.
Assist with a surgical procedure are demonstrated by meeting the anticipate need of the surgeon and other team members. Handle all sharps in such a manner as to avoid injury to and/or contamination of the surgical team, per hospital policy. Open and set up sterile supplies using appropriate sterile technique, in a standardized manner using department procedures. Apply principles of asepsis to maintain the highest standard of sterile technique.
Know where instruments, sponge, lap, and needle are at all times during procedure. Participate with circulating nurse and physicians regarding correct/incorrect sponge and needle counts per hospital policy.
As assigned, check surgical rooms at the beginning of shift to determine readiness for immediate use.
Consistently and promptly clean and prepare instruments for pickup by Sterile Processing department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of a recognized program in surgical technology or a combination of education and directly related work experience
Valid Surgical Technologist Registration with the State of Washington
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Surgery Technologist certification
Recent experience as an OB Scrub Tech or surgical technologist in an acute care facility
