Swedish Health Services Surgical Technologist Certified - Surgery offering SIGN ON BONUS in Edmonds, Washington

$10,000 Sign-on Potential - For Externals Only Relocation available

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Surgical Technologist, Certified (1.0 FTE, Variable Shift) to work in Surgery at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, WA.

Under the guidance of a registered nurse, the Surgical Technologist, Certified participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team and performs indirect perioperative tasks for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who are having surgical and surgical endoscopy procedures.

In this position you will:

  • Attends and participates in report to ensure an understanding of current surgical cases.

  • Selects and prepares supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Assists in preparing OR for surgical procedures, ensuring sterile environment at all times.

  • Sets up sterile field with instruments, sutures, blades, electrosurgical equipment, suction, prosthesis and solutions needed for procedures according to established procedures.

  • Continually maintains neat and orderly sterile field as dictated by the sequence of the procedure. Discards all used sponges into proper receptacle as per accepted practice to ensure accurate count and avoid contamination of others.

  • Counts sponges, needles, sharps, instruments, and other items with circulator prior to procedure and before incision is closed to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy. Keeps an accurate count of all counted items during procedures. Maintains an accurate account of the amount of irrigation used during a procedure.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Graduation from a surgicaltechnology program or a combination of education and directly related workexperience and/or completion of a Surgical Technician vocational program or documentation of equivalent training

  • Surgery Technologist certification

  • Prior experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care facility

  • Registered as a Surgical Technologist with the State of Washington

  • CPR certified
