Swedish Health Services Surgical Technologist (Non-Certified) - Endoscopy Clinic in Edmonds, Washington


Where you work matters! Swedish/Edmonds is looking for a Surgical Technologist (Non-Certified) (0.5 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Endoscopy Clinic Department at Swedish Edmonds located in Edmonds WA.

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist (Non-Certified)participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team and performs indirect perioperative tasks for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients who are having surgical and surgical endoscopy procedures. In addition, the Surgical Technologist may be assigned to transport patients, second assisting and serve as a technical expert for a surgical service.

In this position you will:

  • Attend and participates in report to ensure an understanding of current surgical cases.

  • Select and prepare supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.

  • Continually maintain neat and orderly sterile field as dictated by the sequence of the procedure.

  • Count sponges, needles, sharps, instruments, and other items with circulator prior to procedure and before incision is closed to ensure accuracy and compliance with policy.

  • Perform scrub services as required by the procedure, anticipating the needs of the surgeon in order to expedite the procedure.

  • Receive and handle all medications, fluids, specimens, etc. on the operative field according to accepted practice.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate from a surgical technology program.

  • Current Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

  • Prior experience as surgical technologist in an acute care facility.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Surgery Technologist certification
