Swedish Medical Center Unit Secretary - Family Childbirth Center in Edmonds, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician (0.6 FTE, Day Shift) to work for the Family Childbirth Center at Swedish Edmonds in Edmonds, Washington.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician provides efficient operation of a nursing unit by taking responsibility for the clerical functions and heart rhythm monitoring of patients.

In this position you will:

  • Serve as the hub of all communication for the unit and act as the front-line customer service representative

  • Be accountable for the efficient coordination of unit activities, including patient placement, scheduling, coordinationwith other departments for patient care services and the effective dissemination and prioritization of information

  • Assemble and maintain patient charts, current forms and results/reports

  • Watch over patient heart rhythm monitors and notify the nurses when alerts sound

  • Assess, order and maintain unit supplies and equipment


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Course work in Medical Terminology

  • Working knowledge of computers and various office equipment including: multi-line telephones, copiers, fax machines, etc.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Previous experience in an acute care facility or related work experience
