Swedish Medical Center Health Unit Coordinator - Emergency Services in Everett, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator (Per Diem, Variable Shift) to work in Emergency Services at Swedish Mill Creek in Everett, WA .

We are seeking a detail focused, caring, and thoughtful individual to work as a Health Unit Coordinator while promoting the goals and upholding the ideals of Swedish Medical Center in providing excellent care and experience for our diverse patient population.

In this position you will:

  • Manage the medical chart, files, on-call physicians, order entry and admission of the patient.

  • Act as a liaison among members of the health care team, patients, and families.

  • Provide front line customer service and service recovery responsibility.

  • Be responsible for all incoming telephone, community EMS communications, and outside medical center requests for patient information.

  • Manage the physical environment and supplies.

  • Participate in quality improvement activities of the medical center and Emergency Department.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Related experience in a medical setting

  • Experience in related healthcare setting

  • Working knowledge of Window’s based applications

  • BLS/CPR certification

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One year college studies

  • Course in medical terminology

  • Completion of a Health Unit Coordinator program, or 3 months in a Swedish internship program

  • Previous experience using electronic medical records

About the Mill Creek Campus:

Swedish/Mill Creek has 86,000 square feet of space on three above-ground levels and a partial basement. The E.D. – which is open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week – features 18 emergency exam rooms and six additional observation beds. It shares the first floor with a complete diagnostic imaging center with X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI, which is staffed by partners from Seattle Radiology. A full laboratory and offices for primary- and specialty-care providers are on floors two and three. Swedish/Mill Creek can immediately treat patients suffering from stroke to severe lacerations or burns, broken bones, sports injuries, allergic reactions, food poisoning, work-related injuries and many other medical emergencies and non-emergencies.
