Swedish Medical Center EEG Technologist in Issaquah, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a EEGTechnologist (1.0 FTE, Variable) to work in the EEG at Swedish Issaquah in Seattle,WA.

This position is concerned

with the obtaining of electrophysiological data from patients using medical

instrumentation and computers.

In this position you will:

  • Operate various medicalelectronic monitoring instrumentation in order to obtain technical data ofspecified electrophysiological activity.

  • Interview patient toobtain related medical history, conducts test in compliance with establishedprotocol making adjustments as indicated by medical history of patient orcondition which develop during testing and documents procedures on the testforms.

  • Measure patient forproper electrode placement, applies electrodes and instructs patient to performaccording to requirements of test type, removes electrodes and cleans excessglue or residue at completion of test.

  • Monitor specifiedphysiological data as required during surgical procedures, makes technicalinterpretation of changes in wave patterns according to established protocols,and follows established interchange of information with the surgeon through theelectroencephalographer or physician responsible for reporting changes. Logsand submits all recorded data for interpretation by a physician.

  • Review technical dataobtained in testing, performs mathematical calculations, documents a technicalinterpretation along with other pertinent information; logs and submits allrecorded data for interpretation by a physician.

  • Complete all necessarycharge billing information and deposits charge slips in appropriate place onsame day of billing.

  • Perform and/or assistswith training functions for clinical neurophysiology personnel including, butnot limited to, preparation of training materials, demonstrations, andperformance of testing evaluative functions.

  • Demonstrate anunderstanding of instrumentation through the performance of calibrations,preventive maintenance and troubleshoots technical problems during recordings;notifies appropriate person immediately of unresolved problems.

  • Attend ongoing staffdevelopment classes conducted by various department staff, contributes toclassroom topics through discussion or preparation of projects and demonstratesknowledge of job related subjects through successful completion of courserequirements (i.e. tests, practicals, etc.).

  • Maintain a clean andorderly work environment in compliance with departmental infection controlstandards and procedures.

  • File, cull, andretrieve records on a periodic basis.

  • Move and or assists inmoving patients from bed, wheelchair or stretcher and positions patientproperly; assists patient to or from restroom and/or from restroom and/or wasteremoval procedures and disposes of contents properly.

  • Contribute to apositive work environment and the overall team effort of the department.

  • Special training andresultant expertise in the management of clinical seizures and seizure relatedemergencies.


Required qualifications for this positioninclude:

  • Associatesdegree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school withemphasis in the human sciences Or completion of a training course in EEGapproved by the Director.

  • 6months related experience and/or training.

  • CPRCertification.
