Swedish Medical Center Blood Management Specialist (RN or MT) - Blood Bank in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a BloodManagement Specialist (0.6 FTE, Days) in the Blood Bank at Swedish FirstHill in Seattle, WA.

The Blood ManagementSpecialist develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates bloodless and bloodmanagement programs especially as related to regulatory and safety complianceacross all campuses.

In this position you will:

  • BloodlessProgram patient interviews, directing Bloodless Program volunteer staff, actingas a liaison for internal and external customers, overseeing documentation,data maintenance and reporting, coordination of projects, meetings, andconferences.

  • Responsiblefor reviewing and investigating EQVR’s related to the blood productadministration process.

  • Responsiblefor assisting the Blood Services Department in developing and implementingpolicies and procedures to improve transfusion safety and administrationincluding evaluating and monitoring the processes of dispensing and administeringblood components.

  • This positionis required to be on call 24/7 per pre-arranged schedule.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’sdegree in Nursing or Medical Technology is required (if applying as a MedicalTechnologist, Bachelor’s degree with proper MT certification is acceptable).

  • Bachelorsof Science in Nursing, Washington State Nursing License or MT (ASCP) and/or SBBcertification.

  • Minimum three years clinical experience in an acute care facility with demonstrated leadership capabilities and an understanding of transfusion practice and testing, including process improvement.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Clinical experience with blood componentadministration or testing is highly desirable.
