Swedish Health Services Cancer Conference and Registry Support Coordinator - Swedish Cancer Institute Health Info Services in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Cancer Conference and Registry Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work for the Swedish Cancer Institute Health Info Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
Under the supervision of a certified tumor registrar, the Cancer Conference and Registry Coordinator supports the cancer registry by identifying new cancer cases, maintaining and reporting current and accurate outcome data, and participating in data quality control activities. This position also provides coordination of the Swedish Cancer Conferences, including supporting the Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) Clinical Leaders by providing agendas, attendance sheets and maintaining required documentation. Coordinates with CME and outside speakers to provide educational support and possible grants for the conferences. Assists with the maintenance and selection of AV equipment for the SCI conference rooms. This role contributes to the effectiveness of the overall Swedish Cancer program by assuring that all work related to American College of Surgeons (ACOS) requirements is performed timely and professionally.
In this position you will:
Under the supervision of a certified tumor registrar, assists with initial cancer case finding and screening process.
Update follow-up information in the cancer registry database by reviewing medical records, mailing follow up queries, and making phone calls.
Reply to incoming requests for treatment or follow-up data in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with case reporting to state and/or central registry (FHCRC). This includes follow-up, updates, and physician contacts.
Maintain follow-up rates, which are compliant with the current Commission on Cancer’s Cancer Program Standards.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associates Degree or two (2) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement
Two (2) years working in a medically related field
Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical oncology terminology, and general medical records coding
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of an NCRA approved college level curriculum in cancer registry
Two (2) years of cancer registry experience, completion of a cancer registry or health information management program or certified tumor registrar eligibility
Experience in event planning or demonstrated experience coordinating organizational or volunteer activities
Knowledge of American College of Surgeons approved cancer program requirements and state regulations for reporting cancer diagnoses
