Swedish Medical Center Central Services Technician II - Sterile Processing in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Central Services Technician II (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Sterile Processing at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Central Services Technician is responsible for all task-based Central Services activities. Central Services activities include, but are not limited to: decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and receiving and distribution of Central Services supplies.

In this position you will:

  • Performs duties including decontamination and sterilization of instruments and equipment; and inspecting and assembling surgical instruments, equipment, trays, and packs. Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings. Delivers case carts to surgical/interventional area.

  • Able to relate to and work in all of the Department’s areas on assigned shift.

  • Operates all sterilizers using appropriate sterilization techniques at appropriate campus according to manufacturer instructions.

  • Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems.•Responsible for cleanliness of work areas and performs tasks in accordance with established procedures.

  • Performs materials tasks appropriately by paring, replenishing, and assembling soft supplies on the case cart and in the surgical/interventional core supply area.

  • Maintains open lines of communication within the department and with customers.

  • Assists with and provides for relief for others.

  • Proficient use of electronic handheld ordering devices, instrument tracking systems, and EPIC.

  • Exhibit the ability to effectively work with coworkers, supervisors, management, and customers.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Completion of formal Central Services Technician course

  • Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing) is required.

  • Minimum three (3) years experience with Surgical Instrumentation in hospital Sterile Processing/Central Services environment

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Materials management and/or supply chain experience strongly preferred
