Swedish Health Services Clinical Supervisor - Surgery and Procedures Admissions in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Clinical Supervisor (1.0 FTE, Evening Shift) to work in Surgery and Procedural Admissions Department at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Clinical Supervisor is accountable for the overall clinical and operational activities of this department within surgical services. The supervisor is responsible for this in accordance with Swedish Medical Center's mission, vision and values. Under the guidance of the Manager, the Clinical Supervisor is accountable for the following: management of clinical and operational activities of the SPAU Department; establishing and enforcing standards and nursing practice pertaining to the admission and discharge (Phase II and III) of the surgical and procedural patients for the Cherry Hill campus; and providing direct patient care when needed.

In this position you will:

  • Accountable for ensuring the provision of patient care during operating hours for the Surgery and Procedures Admissions Unit. Accountable for assigned clinical operations, patient care activities, coordinating patient care delivery on a daily basis in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Ensures that patient care is delivered in accordance with professional, regulatory, and medical center standards

  • Provides input on and enforces standards of patient care and nursing practice pertaining to the area of responsibility. Provides input for developing, implementing, and monitoring unit-based quality improvement programs. Provides input for developing and implementing unit-based goals for the delivery of quality patient care

  • Assures compliance with department standards by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care by reinforcing positive outcomes and demonstrating corrective action for identified problems

  • Accountable for appropriate patient care based on patient care assignments, evaluation of patient care and patient/family satisfaction by conducting rounds and intervening accordingly

  • Assumes the role of patient advocate to clarify and evaluate ethical and/or legal issues, and supports cultural practices

Qualifications:

Required qualifications in this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school or equivalent education and experience (Internal applicants without BSN may be considered at the discretion of the Manager/Director. The internal applicant must begin actively pursuing and must attain a BSN within three years of taking position)

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)

  • Three (3) years Current surgical admission/discharge experience with demonstrated clinical knowledge and leadership qualities

  • Working collaboratively within a team and team building, problem solving, leadership, conflict resolution and excellent interpersonal communication required

  • Experience as a Charge Nurse

Preferred qualifications in this position include:

  • Supervisory experience
