Swedish Medical Center Coding Auditor in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Coding Auditor at Metropolitan Park East in Seattle, WA.

The Coding Auditor is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the coding integrity program. This person will asses and develop resources/materials as well as conduct trainings to assure accurate coding of Health Information Management (HIM) coded medical records.

In this position you will:

  • Serve as a coding expert working with the coding Supervisor/Manager and Program (CDIP) Data Integrity Liaison to ensure compliance with Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, coding conventions and regulatory oversight agencies.

  • Develop competencies and quality assessment tools for education/compliance requirements.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining coding guidelines for new and existing employees.

  • Review and revise departmental policies and provide education to coding staff regarding changes.

  • Identify areas for documentation improvement and provide feedback to management and administration.

  • Serve as Epic super-user and recommend system modifications to improve the organization’s coding functions.

  • Develop and revise educational objectives and curriculum applicable to all Epic coding processes.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) - REQUIRED

  • Experience performing hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding, utilizing the most current versions of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedure Terminology (CPT)

  • Experience training and/or teaching in an acute care hospital setting.

  • Advanced knowledge of coding principles, disease process andDRG assignment function

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or may substitute an Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college and five years hospital setting experience, with credential Certified ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer Experience working with management of the Quality Department, Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs, and other key stakeholders

  • Experience with Epic and 3M
