Swedish Medical Center Coding Compliance Consultant in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Coding Compliance Consultant (1.0 FTE, Days) to work at the Bank of America Building in Seattle, WA.

The Coding Compliance Consultant works closely with the Coding Compliance Manager and/or Supervisor to ensure the coding compliance functions of SMG meet the goals and needs of the organization. The Consultant provides knowledge, experience and mentorship to the team as well as other staff in the organization. The consultant is seen as a senior level coding compliance professional and provides training and consulting to medical providers.

In this position you will:

  • Support and provide compliance and coding training to physicians, clinic staff and corporate auditing and billing staff

  • Perform medical records audits according to corporate compliance and coding plan, and provide immediate feedback and training to appropriate physician and support personnel

  • Prepare reports of audit results, including recommendations

  • Create educational materials for coding training and education

  • Participate in review of specialists’ claims

  • Act as a resource for Coding and Coding Compliance Specialists


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma

  • Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA)

  • Certified Compliance Professional (CCP) or other compliance certification

  • Experience in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding

  • Performing professional coding in a clinic and/or hospital setting

  • Fluency with documentation guidelines and auditing skills

  • Fluency in CPT-4, ICD-10 coding, and medical billing

  • Knowledge of multi-specialty coding guidelines

  • Knowledge of healthcare coding and reimbursement, including industry standard billing rules, Medicare, Medicaid, L&I, and commercial insurance

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)

  • AAPC Specialty Certifications
