Swedish Health Services Coding Technician - Coding and Abstracting - REMOTE in Seattle, Washington

Coding Technician - Coding And Abstracting - REMOTE

SCHEUDLE: 100% REMOTE. Operating hours are Monday-Friday, 8a-5p PST. 8 hour shifts.

Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes on inpatient or outpatient cases using ICD-9-CM and CPT coding systems, assigns DRGs using the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) MS-DRG and All Patient groupers and abstracts data for statistical, reimbursement and regulatory requirements. Ensures coding compliance by applying all coding principles and guidelines as defined in the Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, Swedish Medical Center policies and other leading authorities. The Coding Technician is a member of the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team that assures charts are coded to reflect the level of service provided.

Qualifications:

Required qualification:

  • Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Procedural Coder Hospital (CPC-H) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree -or- equivalent from two-year college or technical school or completion of a certified coding program. Will consider applicants with approximately two years experience and relevant and applicable education

  • 2 years of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience performing hospital-based inpatient and out patient coding
