Swedish Medical Center is looking for a ComplianceSpecialist - Coding & Documentation (1.0 FTE, Days) in Corporate Complianceat Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

Under the guidance of theSwedish Office of Compliance and Privacy’s Compliance Program, the ComplianceSpecialist – Coding and Billing provides compliance and privacy program supportacross Swedish Health Services to assist with the implementation of aneffective compliance program, in accordance with the Swedish Compliance ProgramDescription and Annual Work Plan. Thisposition may participate in all aspects of the Compliance Program, supportingthe Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer and all Office of Compliance andPrivacy caregivers in the successful accomplishment of Work Plan and generaldepartmental operational activities.

In this position you will:

  • Serves as asubject matter expert assisting the Office of Compliance and Privacy with avariety of coding and billing related compliance issues.

  • Assists withthe ongoing progression and maintenance of Swedish’s Compliance Programefforts.

  • Able todemonstrate that he/she is committed to act in an ethical manner, includingbehaviors that promote team concepts and reflect Swedish Health Services’mission, core values and philosophy.

  • Coordinate, assist, or conductcompliance investigations and case work, related to coding and billingdocumentation issues.

  • Assist with managing and investigatingthe Integrity Hotline reports related to coding and billing documentationissues.

  • Along with the Manager, RegulatoryCompliance, serve as a liaison between patients, Swedish, internal and externallegal counsel, and government oversight agencies.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimumof a Bachelor’s of Arts or Sciences degree in healthcare, businessadministration or related fields of study

  • Certifiedin Healthcare Compliance (“CHC”), or equivalent, by the HCCA, required withinone-year of hire.

  • Requiresa valid driver’s license with the ability to travel within the Swedish systemin addition to the Providence Health & Services locations.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • A Master’s of Business Administration orHealthcare Administration or Juris Doctor (JD) degree is desirable.However, an equivalent combination ofeducation and healthcare experience will be considered for the right candidatewho is otherwise qualified.
