Swedish Medical Center Director of Operations - Surgery (SMG) in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Group is calling a Director of Operations for Surgery in Seattle, WA.
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Operations for Surgery is responsible for working collaboratively on initiatives for these services for Swedish Medical Group and Ambulatory Care Network throughout the Puget sound area. Will provide programmatic leadership to staff, ensure program fidelity and drive the process improvement for services and access. Represents the model to the different health systems, providers and the community at large and assures the provision of quality whole person integrated health care to all users of the health systems. Will work closely with the Medical Directors to ensure clinical excellence and quality outcomes.
Direct and administer assigned functions to ensure high quality, cost-effective patient services, which meet or surpass accreditation standards. Develop, modify and implement patient care standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Establish clear clinical practice expectations for patient care areas.
Evaluate organization structure, reporting relationships and position incumbents to ensure high standards of performance are obtained. Assure optimum organizational performance by meeting goals and projections; providing timely and accurate data as requested; and maintaining compliance with all Federal, State and local laws.
Develop, implement and monitor the annual operating budget, ensuring that operations are managed within the established guidelines. Establish financial and programmatic goals and conduct an annual evaluation of goal achievement.
Direct, coordinate and/or participate in various hospital sub-committees as needed in order to promote the strategic and operational goals of the health system. Collaborate with colleagues from other divisions within the organization for the purpose of furthering goals and objectives of the organization.
Select, train, develop and evaluate subordinates and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resource policies and organization philosophy. Monitor the progress of employee performance, review skills and practices, assess training needs, and implement appropriate training programs. Ensure timely staff performance evaluations, establish goals and criteria of performance for staff, and implement appropriate action for achievement.
Model and mentor Health of Providence standards of service excellence.
Schedule regular meetings with direct report staff to provide supervision, ensure communication and monitor facility operations. Conduct and document annual performance evaluations on each direct report staff.
Maintain and guide the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with State, Federal and other regulatory guidelines. Assure adequate preparation for, and participate in, regulatory compliance surveys.
Provide direction and support to subordinate managers and staff to assure departmental effectiveness and efficiency,
Support and adhere to hospital policies and procedures and participate in quality improvement and safety programs.
Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served.

BA/BS in related field required.
Implementation and management experience in a large, multi-site organization.
Minimum of 6 years of health care operations experience .
Minimum of 5 years experience in health care operations leadership role required.
2 years experience in strategic planning, organization assessment.
Strong financial and communication skills.
Change management capabilities and consulting/project management/coordination capabilities.
Highly developed leadership, management, interpersonal, team and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with key executives, physicians and other personnel.
- Master’s degree in related field preferred.
