Swedish Health Services Financial and Billing Associate in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Financial and Billing Associate (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Kidney Acquisitions at Swedish First Hill in Issaquah, WA.

Responsible for reviewing, processing, and preparing all claims for manager or director approval for submittal to Swedish Accounts Payable (A/P) consistent with Swedish A/P policies for all potential pre-transplant donor and recipient services provided. Serves as the point person for all billing questions with patients, services providers and insurers. Resolves patient billing complaints. Reviews itemized bills to verify accuracy and completeness of charges. Researches denied or incomplete bills. Code and/or verifies the latest ICD-CPT and HCPCS codes. Instructs and supports billing staff in the application of billing policies and procedures.

In this position you will: .

  • Receive and sort claims submitted of transplant Program including but not limited to Health Insurance Claim form (HCFA) 1500 and UV-04 forms to review and processing.

  • Review submitted claims for services rendered to potential transplant patients including potential recipients and donors for accuracy, and determine if claims represent appropriate pre-transplant charges.

  • Process charges for pre-transplant laboratory, hospital, medical practice and other services for potential transplant recipients and donors for signature by department's manager or director, submittal to A/P and approval.

  • Make inquiries telephonically or in writing to services providers as needed for additional detail.

  • Prepare correspondence to send to service providers for inappropriately and/or inaccurately submitted claims for Transplant Administrator and/or department manager/director for review and signature.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years transplant clinic setting with managed care, Medicare, Medicaid and private payer insurance reimbursement

  • Windows applications and Microsoft Office

  • At least one or more of the following certifications is required: Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P), Certified Medical Coder (CMC), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC).

  • If not certified at time of employment, must obtain one certification within six months of starting in position

Preferred qualification for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
