Swedish Medical Center Health Education Specialist and Telephone Liasion - Cancer Institute Integrated Care in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Health Services is looking for a Health Education Specialist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Cancer Institute Integrated Care for Swedish First Hill located in Seattle, WA.
The Health Education Specialist promotes the services provided by the Swedish Cancer Institute (SCI) to our patients, families, caregivers, and the cancer community we serve through health education outreach, development and implementation of health education programs, and research, review, creation of patient health education materials and through service excellence.
In this position you will:
Provide consultation on adult learning and health education theories to physicians and staff with an emphasis on patient and family centered care, patient safety and improved patient care outcomes
Develop community partnerships to provide health resources to the cancer community and to raise awareness of the SCI's health education programs
Facilitate patienteducation programs and coordinate classes and support groups throughout the community while providing marketing assistance and educational as needed
Collaborate with SwedishFoundation and other organizations (e.g. pharmaceutical companies) to determineavailability of education grant support
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Education or an equivalent field in Health Care, Community Education or Human Services
Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) certification or obtain CHES certification within one (1) year of hire
Valid Washington State driver's license
Recent or current experience planning, implementing, evaluating and teaching health education programs
Working knowledge of health education theories and applying those theories in program development, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Working knowledge of marketing programs
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Recent or current experience working with oncology patients
