Swedish Medical Center Interpreter Services ADA Coordinator in Seattle, Washington
Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Interpreter Services ADA Coordinator at Swedish Shared Services in First Hill Main Building, in Seattle, WA.
The Interpreter Services ADA Coordinator serves as a content expert to meet accreditation and regulatory compliance for campus communication and language access services to patients with hearing/vision loss and Limited English Proficiency.
In this position you will:
Facilitate and coordinate provision of interpretation services, and communication services/ADA assistive devices to patients at SMC Edmonds under direction of systems Manager of Linguistic Services.
Serve as a resource and consultant for patients and visitors with hearing/vision loss and LEP patients.
Monitor the delivery of purchased services, collect data, and gather information for required reporting and program evaluation under guidance of systems manager.
Provide campus staff training, consultation, advocacy and assessment of hospital and clinic locations at Swedish Edmonds to assure appropriate language support services are available.
Process purchased services invoices for payment and compile data to demonstrate interpreter services utilization.
Process translation requests in collaboration with systems manager.
Work collaboratively with Swedish Departments to ensure compatibilities are maintained across the Swedish system.
Assist VRI Technology Program Coordinator in maintaining the infrastructure of VRI services; provide onsite VRI training and support in coordination with VRI Technology Program Coordinator and VRI vendor support at Swedish Edmonds.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree - Two or more years of experience within the field of regulatory compliance or interpreter services or services to persons with sensory loss may be substituted for the degree requirement
Valid Washington State driver’s license
Possession of the minimum (or greater) auto insurance coverage as mandated by the State of Washington
Minimum of two years in healthcare, research or clinical setting with working knowledge of regulatory compliance for language and ADA services, as applicable to a healthcare institution
Experience in training adults with variable learning styles and in creating training materials
Familiarity in translation of vital patient documents into multiple languages and ability to prepare quotes, process requests, and archive completed translated documents and track revisions in collaboration with systems Manager of Linguistic Services
General knowledge of cultural backgrounds of patients to be served
Knowledge of hospital/clinic policies on patient confidentiality, informed consent, non-discrimination, and of interpreter’s code of ethics and standards of practice
Working knowledge of computers and basic ability to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint) as well as standard office equipment (photocopiers, facsimiles, telephones/smart phones, pagers, etc.)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and/or DSHS medical interpretation certification or qualification
Two years healthcare interpreting experience, including experience communicating with persons with hearing and/or vision loss using Sign Language, and experience with ADA Assistive Devices to enhance communication
Fluency in English and one or more foreign or sign language(s), both oral and written
Knowledge of software applications including electronic medical records (EPIC), Kronos, and Lawson
