Swedish Medical Center Lead Medical Assistant- Magnolia Clinic in Seattle, Washington

Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Lead Medical Assistant (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Clinic at Swedish Magnolia in Seattle, WA.

The Lead Medical Assistant will work under the direction of a practitioner to perform duties as directed to assist in providing basic patient care to assigned patients. They will serve as a mentor and resource to Medical Assistants by providing support, guidance and training as needed.

In this position you will:

  • Responsible for the daily operations and planning of workflow for the Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) to ensure that all team members know what their priorities are, daily

  • Assist with PSC coverage

  • Responsible for training new hires and/or cross-training PSCs

  • Responsible for evaluating the efficiencies of the team as well as identifying barriers and move to eliminate them where possible

  • Responsible for making suggestions as to how to improve processes and procedures within the area/department; participate in quality assessment and improvement activities

  • Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem

  • According to clinic standards, prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; anticipate practitioner’s needs for medications, supplies and equipment and plan accordingly

  • Under supervision of practitioner or nurse supervisor, administer approved medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, topical, otic, ophthalmologic or inhaled routes

  • May draw blood; Perform common clinic screening tests, such as, but not limited to, Ekg, lab, Xray


Required qualifications:

  • Graduate of a certified medical assistant program

  • Active Interim Certificate or Active Medical Assistant Certified through Washington State; required by date of hire

  • If in Active Interim Certification Status applicant must pass one of the following exams within 120 days of hire: AAMA, AMT, NHA NCCT

  • Current BLS – Healthcare Provider (must be AHA accredited) required to have BLS upon hire

  • Must possess basic knowledge of medications and their use, to include brand and generic names

  • Must possess basic knowledge of vaccines

  • Prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment, including handling confidential data with discretion

  • Ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances, instill trust in others while upholding the values of the organization

  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally, as well as to interact in a professional manner with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of medical assisting experience in a clinic setting preferred
