Swedish Medical Center Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic Lead - Facility Management in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic Lead to work a full-time day shift position in Facility Management at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

As a Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic Lead, you will act as a resource person for other employees. You will also serve as a contact person in the absence of a supervisor/manage and may train or communicate instructions to other employees, perform minor scheduling, and inspect work to separate acceptable work from unacceptable. Does not hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, transfer or appraise performance.

In this position you will:

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair all built-up heating and cooling systems, including Chillers, Cooling Towers, Heat Exchangers, AHUs, pumps, motors, VAVs, Fan coils, Valves (pneumatic and DDC), VFDs, and all associated controls.

  • Perform preventive maintenance of all equipment on site. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, relays, sensors, pumps, valves, electric motors, fans, dampers, belts, and pulleys.

  • Ability to perform code red drills.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Basic certification in HVAC from an accredited trade school

  • 4 years of experience in refrigeration / HVAC repair, or equivalent

  • Solid background in the use of common and sophisticated tools and systems

  • Must have considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in refrigeration / HVAC maintenance and advanced knowledge of the different types of HVAC and refrigeration systems

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified in LOTO and required PPE

  • Licensed Refrigeration Mechanic Class A or C

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

  • Two year trade school certificate emphasizing HVAC, electrical and building control systems
