Swedish Health Services Mammography Technologist - Breast Care Center in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Mammography Technologist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Breast Care Center at the Swedish First Hill in Seattle, Washington.

This position is required to perform a variety of radiological technical procedures specific to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in a high volume outpatient setting. Responsible for producing high quality radiographic images while interacting with all patients in a caring and comforting manner.

In this position you will:

  • Interacts with patient, explaining procedure thoroughly and answering any questions as appropriate. Models excellence in professional radiologic practice at all times while also functioning as a patient advocate

  • Accurately produces mammographic images per protocol, making appropriate technical adjustments for body size and habitus, age, and past medical history. Analyzes technical quality of films and repeats when appropriate

  • In conjunction with the radiologist, performs all departmental special procedures including (but not limited to) ultrasound guided aspirations and cores, stereotactic core biopsy, galactography, and needle localizations

  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of radiation safety principles for both patients and self. Provides radiation protection when appropriate

  • Participates in the departmental Quality Control as required

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Successful completion of a formal radiologic technology training program, which meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

  • At the time of hire must have Radiologic Technologist registry by ARRT

  • Washington State Certified Radiologic Technologist – Diagnostic license

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)..

  • Dependant on location, prior general radiography experience may be required.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include:

  • Current ARRT advanced certification in mammography

  • If not certified in mammography, candidate will be required to seek and pass advanced certification within 1 year of employment

  • Two (2) years full-time mammography experience
