Swedish Medical Center Mammography Technologist Lead - Mammography in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Mammography Technologist Lead (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Mammography at Swedish Ballard in Seattle, WA.

This position is required to perform a variety of radiological technical procedures specific to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, functioning in a lead capacity. Responsible for producing high quality radiographic images while interacting with all patients in a caring and comforting manner. Oversees the performance of the required quality control activities as mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and the FDA. Responsible for the effective delivery of clinical and technical departmental operations on a daily basis. Participates and is engaged in a team leadership framework, maintaining a positive approach and attitude. Dependent on location, may be required to utilize general radiography skills to perform diagnostic radiology exams.

In this position you will:

  • Act as a resource person for other employees.

  • May train or communicate instructions to other employees, perform minor scheduling and inspect work to separate acceptable work from unacceptable.

  • Serves as a contact person in the absence of a supervisor, manager or director.

  • Does not hire, fire, promote, demote, transfer or appraise performance.

  • Ability to accurately produce high quality diagnostic mammographic images.

  • Ability to perform, in conjunction with the physician staff, related special procedures.

  • Working knowledge of breast anatomy, proper radiographic exposure factors and procedures for mandated quality control activities.

  • Demonstrates independent judgment and initiative while functioning as part of team.

  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with department staff members, physicians, patients and their family members along with other internal and external customers.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of fulltime mammography experience required. Previous lead responsibility preferred. Dependent on location, prior general radiography experience may be required.

  • Must maintain CPR and attend applicable hospital inservices.

  • Completion of formal radiologic technology training, which meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • At the time of hire must have Radiologic Technologist registry by ARRT.

  • Washington State Certified Radiologic Technologist – Diagnostic license required.

  • Current ARRT advanced certification in mammography.
