Swedish Medical Center Material Distribution and Receiving Technician in Seattle, Washington

Providence is calling a Material Distribution and Receiving Technician (Per-Diem/On-Call, Variable Shift) to Providence Health & Services in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a Material Distribution and Receiving Technician to conduct physical inventory and replenishment of patient care and ancillary supply areas, supervises the unloading of trucks at the Loading Dock, checks incoming shipments for damage, verifies shipments with vendor packing-slips, receives incoming stock, non-stock freight and parcel shipments, prepares and coordinates outgoing parcel and freight shipments. This position is also responsible for the processing of fax, phone, electronic order entry, and walk up supply, linen and equipment requests in the MSC (Materials Service Center). Enters data into the MMIS in order to generate pick tickets, picks, delivers, and stocks products associated with the aforementioned functions, all with a high level of efficiency and accuracy in order to ensure accountability for all products and equipment in the MSC. Delivers stock and non-stock products, linen and equipment to the appropriate departments. Puts away and rotates stock in MSC inventories, and on par levels on a first-in/first-out basis for all items that do not have manufacture expiration dates printed on the item and/or packaging. Rotates MSC inventory and supplies on par levels on an earliest expiration date basis for all items that have a manufacture’s expiration date printed on the item and/or packaging. This position has regular interactions with internal and external customers, co-workers, other Swedish employees, patients and visitors, representatives from other hospitals and various vendors

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical inventory / par level replenishment of supply areas, such as patient care and ancillary areas.

  • Responsible for the receipt, processing and delivery of phone, fax, walk-up and electronic supply requests.

  • Responsible for the delivery of supplies and equipment and the stocking of materials to the various supply and ancillary areas as directed.

  • Rotate stock in MSC Inventories and on par levels on a first-in/first-out basis for all items that do not have manufacture expiration dates printed on the item and/or packaging. Rotates stock in MSC Inventory and on par levels on an earliest expiration date first-out basis for all items that do have manufacture expiration dates printed on the item and/or packaging.

  • Inspect all items for damage and expiration dates whenever handling materials, both in the MSC and in other supply areas.

  • Notifie supervisor or designee of discrepancies in on-hand counts, product shortages and emergent situations where a shortage or increased product demand is experienced or anticipated.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

  • 1 year of inventory systems, receiving, warehousing and/or supply distribution using a computerized MMIS in a perpetual inventory system.

  • Must possess the ability to work in a busy, high-pressure environment without direct supervision.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Medical terminology training.

  • Inventory and supply distribution management courses.

  • Experience with material handling equipment (hand trucks, pallet jack, etc).

  • Basic knowledge of receiving and shipping principles
