Swedish Medical Center Material Distribution Tech in Seattle, Washington

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Material Distribution Tech (per-diem/on-call, 0.0 FTE) to work at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Material Distribution Technician will utilizes a computerized MMIS (Materials Management Information System) to conduct physical inventory and replenishment of patient care and ancillary supply areas, supervises the unloading of trucks at the Loading Dock, checks incoming shipments for damage, verifies shipments with vendor packing-slips, receives incoming stock, non-stock freight and parcel shipments, prepares and coordinates outgoing parcel and freight shipments.

In this position you will:

  • Process fax, phone, electronic order entry, and walk up supply, linen and equipment requests in the MSC (Materials Service Center)

  • Enter data into the MMIS in order to generate pick tickets, picks, delivers, and stocks products associated with the aforementioned functions, all with a high level of efficiency and accuracy in order to ensure accountability for all products and equipment in the MSC

  • Deliver stock and non-stock products, linen and equipment to the appropriate departments

  • Rotates stock in MSC inventories, and on par levels on a first-in/first-out basis for all items that do not have manufacture expiration dates printed on the item and/or packaging

  • Rotates MSC inventory and supplies on par levels on an earliest expiration date basis for all items that have a manufacture’s expiration date printed on the item and/or packaging

  • Have regular interactions with internal and external customers, co-workers, other Swedish employees, patients and visitors, representatives from other hospitals and various vendors

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • One year of recent inventory systems, receiving, warehousing and /or supply distribution using a computerized Materials Management Information System in a perpetual inventory system

  • Must possess the functional skills of typing, use of computers, computer software, as well as the ability to learn other software applications necessary in the performance of essential duties and functions

  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language is required

  • Knowledge of general office equipment, such as fax machines, copy machines and printers

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Medical terminology training

  • Courses in inventory and supply distribution management

  • Experience in healthcare environment

  • Basic knowledge of receiving and shipping principles

  • Experience with material handling equipment (hand trucks, pallet jack, etc.
