Swedish Medical Center Medical Assistant - Float Pool in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Medical Assistant (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Float Pool at Bank of America Building in Seattle, WA.

The Medical Assistant Float will assist with and provide patient care, under the supervision of a practitioner, in a float capacity at various clinics throughout the Greater Seattle area. This position may be held by a WA Certified Health Care Assistant.

In this position you will:

  • Greet and prepare patients for the practitioner. Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem. Perform sight and hearing tests as indicated.

  • Ensure confirmation of patient identity with each patient encounter.

  • Obtain specimens according to clinic policies and procedures.•Under supervision of practitioner or nurse supervisor, administer approved medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, topical, otic, ophthamolgic or inhaled routes.

  • Provide patient mobility assistance as necessary.•Inform patients of lab results, call in prescriptions to pharmacies and return practitioners phone messages as directed by practitioner.

  • Document all interactions in patient’s medical record.

  • Dispose of contaminated items according to Swedish Physician Division Exposure Control Plan

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program

  • State of Washington Medical Assistant Certification; (CM) Certified or (IC) Interim Certified required at the time of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail

  • Demonstrated PC skills, i.e. proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally

  • Prior experience providing a high level of customer service in a fast paced environment

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

  • Minimum one year of medical assisting in a clinic setting

  • Previous EPIC experience
