Swedish Medical Center Medical Staff Performance Improvement Coordinator - First Hill Medical Staff Services in Seattle, Washington


Swedish is looking for a Medical Staff Performance Improvement Coordinator (1 FTE, Day Shift) to work for the Medical Staff Services Department at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Medical Staff Performance Improvement (PI) Coordinator supports and coordinates the Medical Staff Performance Improvement, Peer Review, and Focused Review functions and activities in compliance with the Medical Staff Quality Improvement Plan and related policies and procedures. The PI Coordinator works closely with other departments of Swedish Medical Center to obtain appropriate quality information such as Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety, and Decision Support.

In this position you will:

  • Coordinates the work of Medical Staff Committees to support performance improvement. Assists in the development of medical staff performance indicators through collaborative efforts with medical staff and SMC departments.

  • Coordinates data collection for individual medical staff assessment to evaluate and improve performance as part of peer review process or department educational initiatives.

  • Collects and reports data in aggregate for focused review analysis by medical staff Quality Review Committees or the Quality Oversight Committee.

  • Analyzes and translates data for use in performance reporting and assessment of focused and ongoing professional competency.

  • Organizes and reports results of statistical analysis of focused peer review efforts.

  • Collaborates with other departments to provide outcome data for analysis of performance and support for decision making.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school

  • BS degree in nursing, business, education, applied behavioral science, hospital administration or related field

  • Three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.

  • Two (2) years Quality / performance improvement and / or focused review (peer review) experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Current Washington state Registered Nurse License required.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Designation as Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHC)

  • Minimum of seven (7) years in cardiovascular, maternal/child, or acute care med/surg nursing
