Swedish Medical Center Monitor Technician II - Pediatric Unit in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Monitor Technician II to work for the Pediatric Unit at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.
This is a 0.9 FTE, day shift position.
The Monitor Technician II is responsible for continuously monitoring patients via telemetry of oxygen saturation (Sp02) levels and/or electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythm on patients and report changes to the Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse. Must successfully pass annual ECG competencies.
In this position you will:
Perform general secretarial and clerical duties in the patient care areas
Interact with patients, families and physicians and act as a liaison among members of the health care team, patients and families
Monitor oxygen saturation, notify the bedside RN of significant changes of the patients trending Sp02, which may include trending of the pulse rate and trending of acoustic respiratory rate (RRA)
Monitor, document and report ECG rhythm of pediatric patients and report any significant rhythm changes per unit protocol
Be responsible for alarm management in collaboration with nursing: setting heart rate alarms and adjusting arrhythmia detection criteria as appropriate for each pediatric patient, and assuring that alarms are on at all times
Document initiation and discontinuation of Sp02, RRA, ECG, as well as reporting quality variances and all safety concerns
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school Diploma or GED
Successful completion of Pediatric Arrhythmia Education (80% score or higher) If you have previous monitor technician experience, must pass a challenge exam (80% score or higher)
One year of recent ECG monitoring experience
Ability to manage a minimum patient load of 35 patients on monitors
Knowledge of medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Previous experience using electronic medical record
