Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Music Therapist (0.5 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Swedish Cancer Institute Integrated Care in Seattle, WA
The Music Therapist is a complementary health care clinician, who uses evidenced-based music therapy interventions to enhance and support care during active cancer treatment and/or survivorship. The Music Therapist maintains a collaborative approach to treatment by working closely with the Psychosocial Oncology Team and other medical providers and caregivers. The ideal candidate is well-versed in program development related to the field of music therapy, able to lead individual and group music therapy sessions in the inpatient and outpatient setting, capable of building individual clinic-based services, and provide music therapy treatment in infusion clinics and/or other locations as assigned.
In this position you will:
Provides outpatient individual and Group Music Therapy sessions for patients, families, and care partners throughout the Swedish Cancer Institute Network, Treatment Centers, Radiation Oncology and Inpatient
Plans and implements all Music Therapy services; contributing to the vision and growth of the program
Works collaboratively with the Psychosocial Oncology Team and other healthcare professionals
Participates in public relations efforts to promote the Music Therapy program
Participates in philanthropic efforts and growth in collaboration with the foundation as determined appropriate by the program manager.
Evaluates response to Music Therapy services and continuously works to improve the program to meet patient and family needs
Communicates effectively in the professional environment with patients, families, care partners, and others
Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved university program
Holds and maintains certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
Holds and maintains the Music Therapist- Board Certified (MT-BC) tittle
Two (2) years in music therapy, medical setting
Preferred advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy
Preferred advanced training in Guided Imagery and Music
