Swedish Medical Center Neurophysiology Intraoperative Monitoring Specialist in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Neurophysiology Intraoperative Monitoring Specialist (1.0 FTE, Days) in EEG at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA.
The Neurophysiology Intraoperative Monitoring Specialist provides adequate recordings with proficiency in troubleshooting technical problems, keeps the surgeons and IOM physicians informed of any significant changes, including the loss of waveforms being monitored.
In this position you will:
Perform all modalities of Neurophysiology/Neurovascular and other Intraoperative Monitoring with minimal supervision. This includes (but is not limited to): Cerebellopontine angle tumor surgery, intracranial tumor and aneurysm surgery/procedures, spinal surgeries including surgery for spinal deformity, thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery, and peripheral nerve surgeries.
Participate in the development, selection, and implementation of software and procedures needed to provide optimal monitoring.
Maintain up to date knowledge about any situations that may increase the risk of injury to the patient and the implications for all types of electrode application
Monitor all instrumentation that enters the sterile field, with close attention to infection, aseptic and sterile technique.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree, preferrably in Neuroscience
Education to include course work in anatomy, neurophysiology
ABRET - CNIM licensure by the American Board of Neurophysiologic Monitoring or expectation of licensure within 18 months
Understanding of all relevant anatomy, neurophysiology and surgeries
A comprehensive understanding of intraoperative EEG, EMG, and EP’s as well as an understanding of the steps of common surgical procedures
Experience with networking and computer programming
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Masters degree in scientific discipline related to the biological sciences and in particular to Neuroscience
Experience in neurophysiology and neuroanatomy
At least two years of Intraoperative Monitoring experience strongly
