Swedish Medical Center Patient Financial Advocate - Radiosurgery Center in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Patient Financial Advocate (0.5 FTE, Day) Monday through Friday, 4 hours a day, to work at Radiosurgery Center at Swedish First Hill, in Seattle, WA.
The Patient Financial Advocate identifies and coordinates all aspects of financial obligations for private pay patients, which also includes but is not limited to, patient relations and acting as a physician liaison regarding financial liabilities. More importantly pre-authorizations for diagnostic imaging and pre-authorization for treatments in radiosurgery are the key duties of this role for insurance authorization.
In this position you will:
Review demographics, insurance, and financial information and use sound problem solving and decision making skills to work with patients.
Assist in the preparation and submission of documents to internal and external departments as needed.
Explain topics of insurance coverage and preauthorization challenges with patient and family.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's degree. Additional experience may substitute for degree
At least 3 yrs experience in patient financial services, insurance authorizations, or medical billing in a hospital business office.
Basic knowledge of ICD-/CPT coding, medical terminology, and insurance authorizations.
