Swedish Health Services Patient Financial Specialist - Anticoagulation and Pharmacotherapy Services in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Patient Financial Specialist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Anticoagulation and Pharmacotherapy Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, Washington.
The Patient Financial Specialist is responsible for insurance and eligibility verifications and assessment of financial requirements of recommended treatments. The Patient Financial Specialist counsels the patient on insurance benefits, co-payments, and out of pocket expenses. The Patient Financial Specialist is responsible for obtaining any required preauthorization for procedures, treatments, and admissions. This position is in constant contact with patients, physicians, nursing staff, pharmacy, and third party payers.
In this position you will:
Verify insurance benefits and private pay accounts for outpatient visits, treatments, and procedures
Obtain necessary pre-authorization for outpatient visits, treatments, referrals, and procedures
Obtain necessary pre-certifications for inpatient hospital stay, surgeries, or procedures
Provide face-to-face patient counseling related to covered benefits, out of pocket expenses, and co-pays and deductibles
Negotiate cash paying arrangements for proposed procedure(s) or treatments, on behalf of SMC, based on the standard billing guidelines set by financial services. Reviews with patients price quote, payment options, and policies
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Accounting, business administration, or related field. Or equivalent educ/experience
Two (2) years prior background in a healthcare setting of billing, financial counseling, or financial advocacy with proficiency in medical terminology
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, business administration, or related field
