Swedish Health Services Patient Services Coordinator II in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Lead Patient Services Coordinator II (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Colorectal Surgery Clinic at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Lead Patient Services Coordinator II performs a variety of front office clerical and support tasks. Responsible for greeting patients, new referral intake, appointment and surgical scheduling, insurance authorization, collecting insurance co-payments, billing, abstracting, and clinic medical record management.

In this position you will:

  • Greets patients and registers them in all applicable computer systems. Effectively communicates instructions to patients to ready them for scheduled appointments. Consents patients and ensures their completion of required forms, assisting them as needed.

  • Verifies patient’s insurance coverage and enters all patient information required for billing into computer systems. Collects copays at time of service.

  • Prepares chart folders including patient’s forms and records for physicians based on Swedish Medical Center policies and procedures. Files records and forms accordingly. Documents/charts appropriately into EMR according to department policy and standards.

  • Schedules multiple patient appointments with physicians and labs, demonstrating ability to schedule according to multiple details, patient complexity, and required devices to ensure patient safety and good outcome. Reschedules all cancellations or no-show appointments per department standards and policy. Reschedules patients affected by schedule changes. Confirms appointments with patients not contacted by automated calls or as appropriate.

  • Ensures that ordering providers have completed all appropriate order forms before scheduling.

  • Provides patients with the necessary resources, education, information, and contacts for the procedures specific to their care. Advises patient about insurance/payment options when necessary.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 12 Months related experience in the medical field.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care

  • General experience regarding medical office paperwork; including billing, coding and medical terminology.
