Swedish Health Services Patient Services Coordinator - Provider Services - First Hill in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Patient Services Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Variables) to work in Provider Services at Swedish Medical Group in Seattle, WA. This is a temporary position for the next 12-24 months.

This position performs a variety of front office support tasks within a primary care setting. The Patient Services Coordinator is a key member of a primary care team consisting of a Provider, Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant and Patient Service Representative.

In this position you will:

  • Greet patients that have Covid-19 symptoms or have test positive for Covid-19.

  • Manage provider’s daily schedule of patient appointments, working closely with the rest of the care team to adjust as needed for optimum patient care.

  • Manage incoming calls, electronic messages, paperwork and fax transmissions from patients, pharmacies and other providers, routing to other care team members as necessary for signatures and timely responses.

  • Coordinate patient check out process, including providing after-visit summaries, setting follow-up appointments, confirming lab or imaging orders, researching specialist referrals and authorizing medical record requests.

  • Obtain pre-authorization from insurance providers as necessary for specialist referrals, imaging, and procedures. Educate patient to be accountable for their insurance benefit coverage when they have choices between in-network or out-of-network care.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance plans and act as a resource for providers, staff and patients who have questions about coverage or pre-authorization requirements.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Previous experience in a customer service capacity managing high-volume calls and appointment scheduling

  • Previous experience with computer data input

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience in a healthcare setting

  • Previous experience handling confidential information and documentation

  • Experience with EPIC practice management software
