Swedish Medical Center Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient in Seattle, Washington
Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician (1.0 FTE, Evenings) at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a detail focused, caring, and thoughtful individual in Pharmacy care, promoting the goals and upholding the ideals of Swedish Medical Center in providing excellent care and experience for our diverse patient population. This position is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for assuring safe, efficient, cost effective drug therapy for all patients.
In this position you will:
Perform inpatient pharmacy drug compounding, distribution, record keeping, and clerical activities under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
Compounding sterile chemo/hazardous and non-hazardous sterile IV products and routine medications.
Load, refill and troubleshoot PYXIS ES automated dispensing cabinets.
Deliver medications to nursing units, clinics, and procedural areas. Return and credit discontinued medications from the units back to the pharmacy in a timely manner.
Package medications into single-unit packages and perform bulk packaging of medications including batch preparation of compounded sterile products.
Participate in monthly outdate and unit inspection program.
Perform routine computer functions including charge/credits and label generation.
Triage incoming phone calls to the pharmacy department.
Communicating concisely and effectively with patients, families, pharmacists, and other health care providers in a friendly and courteous manner.
Assist in the training of pharmacy assistants, technicians, students, and interns.
Collection and clarification of the home medication list through patient or caregiver interview, information gathered from electronic sources, community pharmacies and primary care provider.
Documentation in the EHR and communication of relevant information associated with home medications in the EHR and/or verbally to the pharmacist.
Entry of the home medication list into the electronic health record (EHR), as well as updating the patient’s preferred community pharmacy information in the EHR.
Other pharmacy technician duties as assigned and necessary for the safe and effective care of our patients.
Adhere to the Swedish Pharmacy Department and Swedish Medical Center policies and procedures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program
Current license to practice as a pharmacy technician in the State of Washington
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in hospital pharmacy
