Swedish Medical Center Pharmacy Technician - Medication Safety in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Pharmacy Technician (0.6 FTE, Days) in Medication Safety at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a detail focused, caring, and thoughtful individual in Pharmacy care, promoting the goals and upholding the ideals of Swedish Medical Center in providing excellent care and experience for our diverse patient population. This position is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and is responsible for assuring safe, efficient, cost effective drug therapy for all patients.

In this position you will:

1. Review eQVRdatabase (Datix) daily according to team-identified approach.

  • Populates common non-discretionary information into datafields, edits fields for consistency, route to appropriate staff as indicated

  • Escalates eQVRs of urgent concern to Med Safety Officers

  • Follows up with care teams as directed

  • Run a daily MED/ADR event investigation and statusreports for each campus

  • Follow up on daily closed medication events to assurethey have been correctly closed

2. Analyze eQVR reports based on identified med safetymeasures as directed.

  • Create monthly reports from Datix data

  • Quarterly reports for placement into Med Safety Dashboard

  • Track and Update Med Safety Metrics as determined

  • Additional reports as determined

3. Auditing (e.g. Naloxone, safety improvements, etc.)

  • Perform on determined schedule

  • Create summary reports of audits

  • Audit additional processes as directed

4. Administrative

  • Distribute ISMP Newsletter and other Medication Safetycommunication

  • Schedule meetings, Prepare agendas, Distribute materials,take minutes

  • Create and maintain audit report summaries on theMedication Safety Intranet Site

  • Assist with updates to policies and procedures asnecessary

  • Other assistance as directed

5. Quality Improvement

  • Perform on a predetermined schedule, projects andoutcomes

  • Monitor and Track progress for improvements (eg. PDSA.RCA)

  • Create, maintain & audit improvement metrics, asassigned.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program

  • Current license to practice as a pharmacy technician in the State of Washington

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum 3 years hospital experience

  • CPhT certification

  • Works independently, self-starter

  • Excellent Computer skills (Excel, Visio, Access)

  • Analytic experience

  • Confidentiality

  • Energetic motivated individual who is also empathetic,compassionate and non-punitive.

  • Able to prioritize

  • Organized, meets deadlines

  • Willing to travel to other campuses, as assigned

  • Flexible & creative

  • Good communicator, both written and verbal
