Swedish Medical Center Project Manager in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Group is looking for a Project Manager (1.0 FTE, Days) to work for Project Management at Swedish Medical Group in Seattle, WA.

The Project Manager is responsible for managing medium to large operations based projects. He or she will lead a cross functional team, represent projects, and drive continued progress even in a multiple high priority environment while defining deliverables and ensuring expectations are met for entire project life cycle. Additionally, the Project Manager works independently using defined methods/techniques for task completion, utilizing existing standards and structures for communicating project results.

In this position you will:

  • Define and monitor project objectives, scope, and progress against plan by developing complex project structure, preparing detailed project plans and documentation, assigning roles and tasks, implementing project management methodologies, building project management infrastructure, and documenting project requirements.

  • Identify schedules, deliverables, milestones, tasks, resources and contingency plans; facilitates project reviews and statuses, set agendas, negotiate priorities, and ensure resolution of issues.

  • Develop, manage, and execute project plans (objectives, goals, scope, schedules resources costs, and dependencies) that are integrated and synchronized with other areas of the business, adjusting plans across the business as required to ensure successful delivery of commitments and use of resources.

  • Independently manage time making informed decisions about where to invest efforts based upon project priorities; identify and manage expectations while ensuring positive relationship with all staff/stakeholders.

  • Ensure that project deliverables are timely and complete, measure and monitor progress and results; provide coordination and tracking.

  • Identify, document, and monitor metrics for project performance; manage the data and notify stakeholders of problems affecting timelines and resources

  • Manage and integrate groups of diverse disciplines in collaborative activities by acting as a key liaison and facilitating cross-function communication; liaison and principal contact for project related activity.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in business, information systems, or related field plus three (3) years’ experience in a similar role in a comparable or larger institution.

  • Five (5) years of experience in increasingly responsible, large, complex project management roles in comparable or larger institutions may be substituted for the educational requirement.

  • Masters Degree and Healthcare experience may substitute for years of Project Management experience.

  • Three (3) plus years of responsibility managing projects and developing project plans that identify key issues, potential problems, approaches, performance metrics and resources.

  • Experienced in all areas of project management including multiple project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, staffing, communications, risk, and procurement and have experience in managing multiple related projects to achieve identified project portfolio objectives.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • PMI certification
