Swedish Health Services Research Coordinator II (MA-C) - Heart and Vascular Research in Seattle, Washington

Description:

Swedish is looking for a Research Coordinator II (MA-C) (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Heart and Vascular Research at S wedish Research in Seattle, Washington.

Independently coordinates research and administrative tasks in support of one or more research studies. Works with study investigators and supervisor to address study-related issues. Backs up other coordinators as needed. Supports department financial performance through budgeting, billing and as directed.

In this position you will:

  • Conduct subject study visits including: collection of vital signs, subject signs and symptoms, adverse events, current medications, medication changes and medical histories

  • Maintain knowledge related to standard precautions, disposing of biohazards and rules related to performing waived CLIA tests

  • Collect urine, fecal, bucal, breath, and hair specimens per study protocol and conduct protocol required Point of Care testing in accordance with institutional, state and protocol guidelines. Transport specimens to lab for processing and shipping, according to study protocol

  • Prepare patients and assist with study related examinations and procedures. Perform other study procedures in accordance with the protocol after appropriate training and authorization by the Study Investigator

  • Perform peripheral venous phlebotomy for collection of blood samples in accordance with the protocol and/or physician’s orders

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, healthcare, or other related field Or equivalent educ/experience

  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified

  • Three (3) years experience in related area

  • Advanced knowledge of FDA research policies, other applicable federal regulations and/or GCP guidelines

  • Expertise in standard office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), standard office equipment (photocopiers, facsimiles, telephones, pagers, etc.)

  • Familiar with and comfortable with research methodology and the “scientific method”: for conducting research projects

  • Skilled in assessment techniques and procedures

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Diplomatic with a positive attitude

  • Able to work independently and to perform multiple tasks at any one time, set priorities and manage time effectively

  • Ability to plan and implement ideas

  • A team player, able to work with all levels of employees in a respectful and supportive way

  • Able to work with high level professionals in both medical and administrative areas

  • Ability to set priorities and function in a high volume environment

  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with peers, other staff members, patients, family members and others outside the medical center

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) or similar professional research certification
