Swedish Health Services Respiratory Care Practitioner - Respiratory Therapy in Seattle, Washington

Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Respiratory Care Practitioner (0.9 FTE, Day SHIFT) to work in Respiratory Therapy at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

Sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be used in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and/or illness. May work with adult, pediatric and neonatal patient populations. Will float between all campuses and cross train into the collaborative role in the emergency room environment, when working in the Mill Creek or Redmond Emergency Department.

In this position you will:

  • Performs physician prescribed treatments of routine nature operating small and large volume nebulizers, positive airway pressure, and oxygen therapy devices for delivery of respiratory medications or medical gases.

  • Performs routine respiratory therapy; chest physical/flutter therapy, bedside pulmonary function screening, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 monitoring, arterial puncture, naso/endotracheal tube suctioning.

  • Assesses patients for appropriateness of therapy utilizing quality management guidelines and protocols. Contacts managing physician and documents in progress record suggestions for therapy.

  • Initiates, operates, and monitors mechanical and non-invasive ventilation. Continually assess patient's respiratory function and ability to wean from mechanical ventilation.

  • Understands concepts of acute lung injury. Assesses patients on mechanical ventilation for initiation of lung protective ventilation.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Coursework/Training Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory care program.

  • ACLS.

  • PALS.

  • BCLS.

  • NRP.

  • Must be a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner with the Washington State Department of Health under Chapter 18.89 RCW.

  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 2 years In adult critical care and in a neonatal and pediatric unit.

  • 1 year Hospital based work experience, in the field of Respiratory Care.

  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
