Swedish Health Services Supervisor Chemical Dependency Professional and Utilization Review - Addiction Recovery Services in Seattle, Washington
Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Supervisor Chemical Dependency Professional and Utilization Review (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in the Addiction Recovery Services at Swedish Ballard in Seattle, WA.
Responsible for coordinating the provision of counseling services as required to meet patient needs. In this role, the supervisor is expected to provide patient care. Additionally, the supervisor will review the work of other Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDPs) for quality and acceptability. This position is also responsible for utilization review functions and staff within ARS. Responsible for operational activities necessary to maintain the Utilization Review and CDP work groups. Such work will include scheduling, timekeeping and providing input to manager regarding CDP and UR staff performance. The work will include recommendations to the manager regarding design and delivery of counseling support to the patients. This role collaborates with caregivers from other disciplines to ensure patient care is integrated. The supervisor reports directly to the department manager. These services are provided in accordance with Swedish's Mission, Vision and Values.
In this position you will:
Gather and assess information regarding substance use/psychosocial history and develops an appropriate treatment plan.
Monitor patient transitions from one level of care to another, and recognize the patient’s age as the relevant factor in the treatment planning and decision making process.
Facilitate therapy groups, provide one to one counseling, and present addiction related educational classes.
Provide input for hiring and input regarding staff performance as delegated by manager. Clarify and reinforce expectations set by manager – providing coaching and tools as necessary. Conduct level 1 corrective action (verbal warnings).
Provide clinical oversight to counseling staff through regularly scheduled individual and group patient care planning meetings.
Provide further clinical oversight to counseling staff by performing sample audit of each CDP’s patient records on a quarterly basis.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between Addiction Recovery Services and other departments within Swedish Medical Center. Insure counseling staff coordination with outside agencies regarding continuity of patient care.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelors degree in a human services or related field
Valid Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) Certification issued by the Washington State Department of Health/ Health Professionals Quality Assurance Division
To supervise Chemical Dependency Professionals, a CDP certification (license)
3 years recent addictions counseling experience in a state approved addiction treatment facility
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science field
NCACII (National Certification Addictions Counseling Level II) or ICADC (International Certification Alcohol Drug Counselor)
2 years of clinical oversight experience
