Swedish Medical Center Tumor Registrar Uncertified - Cancer Institute Health Info Services in Seattle, Washington


Swedish Medical Center is looking for a Tumor Registrar Uncertified (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work for the Cancer Institute Health Info Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Tumor Registrar Identifies new cancer cases, maintains and reports current and accurate outcome data and participates in data quality control activities.

In this position you will:

  • Assist with the cancer case finding process, and with case reporting to state and/or central registry (FHCRC). This includes follow-up, treatment updates, and data corrections

  • Update follow up information in the cancer registry database by reviewing medical records, mailing follow up or treatment queries, or making phone calls

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee or employer information. Ensure all information and conversations regarding patients are secured from general public access.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate degree in health information or health related discipline or equivalent

  • Two years of cancer registry experience or one year of cancer registry experience plus completion of a two-year cancer registry or health information management program

  • Knowledge of oncology and general medical records coding

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of an NCRA approved college level curriculum in cancer registry

  • Certified Tumor Registrar eligibility
